Tom Cashel serves as MetaProp’s Chief Financial Officer providing all support services required to leverage the team and run the business operations, including accounting, compliance, HR, strategic advice, budgeting and modeling. Tom also supervises the firm’s professional tax and fund administration vendors.
Earlier, Tom was a Partner with Brookfield Financial in New York where he focused as a real estate investment banker on the senior living space to project the firm’s Toronto based healthcare expertise into the US marketplace. Prior to this Tom spent 7 years up to late 2013 working with Cushman & Wakefield running a Capital Markets team in the EMEA region.
Tom started his career as an emerging market debt and derivatives trader predecessors to JP Morgan in New York, London and Warsaw and later as an investment banker at ING Barings, Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, and America’s Growth Capital. At DLJ and AGC where he served both banks as a Managing Director, Tom was heavily focused on technology business, including principal merchant banking investments. Tom managed DLJ’s JV with Poalim Capital Markets covering pre-IPO tech companies interested to list on the NASDAQ. Tom also spent several years working with a partner on US technology M&A transactions.
Tom spent 12 years in the United States Coast Guard Reserve. He is a graduate of the Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company Management Training Program – Finance. He pursued non-matriculated course work towards a master’s in international relations at the University of Southern California in London before deciding he preferred to start work in banking and holds a BA from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA.
